Opening Hours

Monday- Thursday 9am- 5pm

Friday 9am-4pm

As an established dental practice, we are proud to have developed a reputation in our local community over the years for friendly, caring and high quality dental care that our patients can rely on and trust.

Our practice was founded in 1964 by Mr Clive Phillips with just one surgery. Many of our patients remember Clive with fondness.

The current owners, Ann-Marie and Janette, have been settled here in the practice since 2006. They continue with the practice ethos of family friendly dentistry. Indeed they continue to treat several generations of many local families.

At Talbot Road Dental Practice it’s our priority to provide the best care possible, and we are pleased to announce that we have successfully renewed our BDA (British Dental Association) Good Practice scheme membership for the tenth year running. This means that our practice is committed to keeping up to date with, and providing quality dental care to nationally agreed standards of good practice, in order to provide the best care for you- our patients. We are proud to say we are the only BDA Good Practice Award holders in Port Talbot.

We continue to be actively involved in our local community, which is very important to us. Pre pandemic, in association with Aberavon RFC, hygienist Viv and dental nurse Angela, visited 19 local primary schools. During the visit they taught pupils some first aid for their teeth in case of sports injuries. The children designed a poster, with the winner receiving 2 Autumn International Rugby tickets. We have received lots of encouraging feedback from this session. If you have a group that would benefit from a free oral health presentation, please let us know.

More reasons to chose us

Why Denplan ?

Our experience show that the preventative approach to dentistry, that Denplan promotes, complements our own practice care philosophy.

The benefits of Denplan

  • Oral health advice - providing guidance on how to prevent dental problems

  • Set payments - split by month, allowing you a clear view on your private dental care costs

  • Regular check-ups - arranged trips to the dentist to keep your teeth and gums healthy

About Denplan payment plans

Denplan payment plans are provided by Denplan, part of Simplyhealth, the UK’s leading dental payment plan specialist. These payment plans take a preventative approach to dental care and, with their unique and wide-ranging support services, have been looking after dentists and their patients for over 30 years.

Denplan enables patients to budget for private dental care while taking a preventative approach to their oral health. As the only customer-facing brand in the payment plan market, Denplan is one of the most recognised in the UK.

Denplan customers receive the best possible service from a UK based call centre from the moment they join.

How does a Denplan payment plan work?

A Denplan payment plan is tailored to you. With a dental payment plan from Denplan, your dentist projects what treatments you are likely to need. The treatment costs are set out and you pay a monthly fee to cover the work.

As long as any previous work has been completed, you’ll be able to sign up.

On the first visit to the Practice, your Denplan Assessment, one of our dentists will examine your teeth to make sure you are dentally fit. There is a charge for the Assessment of £60, which includes any necessary x-rays. Your dentist will discuss the findings with you, set your Fee Band, and agree the contract. If the dentist finds that you are not dentally fit, they will provide a written treatment plan for the outstanding work to be completed privately before you join Denplan.

Denplan Care - Our Capitation Plan

Denplan Care is a really easy way to spread the cost of all of your routine treatment into affordable monthly payments, reducing the chance of receiving unexpected dental bills. This plan will cover your regular check-ups and hygiene visits with your dental team, as well as any restorative treatment you may need. Denplan Care can also include worldwide dental injury and dental emergency cover (Denplan Supplementary Insurance).

What is Denplan Supplementary Insurance?

As part of our Denplan payment plans, you can add worldwide dental injury and emergency cover for just 60p per person per month. So, whether you're abroad or more than 40 miles from your registered dental practice, you'll have the support you need.

Please visit www.denplan.co.uk for more information.

Denplan Care does not cover:

  • Laboratory fees and prescriptions

NHS

In addition we have a number of NHS places for children. NHS dental care is free for children up to 18 years old.

Talbot Road Dental Practice is proud to support The British Society of Paediatric Dentistry Dental CheckUp by 1 campaign.

Taking your baby to the dentist when their teeth first come through, or by the age of one at the latest, gets them off to a healthy start and accustomed to dental practice visits from an early age.

A dental appointment by the age of one is an opportunity for parents to get valuable advice from the dental team.

Your dentist will do their best to look inside the baby’s mouth but this may not always be possible.

What’s important is you get advice on topics such as:

  • Brushing baby’s teeth

  • A healthy diet

  • Regular dental checks

At this age, understanding how to care for your baby’s teeth moving forwards is critical to their future dental health.

You don't have to brush all your teeth...
Just the ones you want to keep!

You only have two sets of teeth, which is why we stock a comprehensive range of dental hygiene products at reception. From toothbrushes to toothpastes and mouthwashes, our team will take the time to advise you on the best products for your mouth. Everyone’s oral healthcare needs are different, and they change over time. We can recommend exactly the products you need, and how to use them correctly, to keep your teeth and gums healthy. We often have samples available for you to try before you buy.

Whether you need to change your toothbrush, or you need specific sized interdental brushes or a prescription Fluoride toothpaste, you can restock at your visit, at a price that will keep you smiling!
