Our practice aim is to provide quality dental treatment in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
We provide all routine dental treatments- check ups, scale and polishing, dental x-rays, fillings, white fillings, root treatments, crowns, bridges, veneers, mouthguards...We refer our patients to specialists for more complex treatments, for example, straightening teeth with braces (orthodontics). We have a visiting specialist to carry out implants. A dental implant is used to support one or more false teeth. It is a titanium screw that can replace the root of a tooth when it fails. Just like a tooth root, it is placed into the jawbone.
Denplan allows us to offer a complete preventive care programme under the UK's largest independent dental health plan.
Our experience shows that the preventive approach to dentistry, that Denplan promotes, complements our own practice care philosophy. With Denplan care you can leave your worries about costly and unexpected dental bills behind. Fixed, affordable monthly payments entitle you to all the routine care and treatment you need to keep your teeth and gums healthy (excluding laboratory fees). See www.denplan.co.uk for more information or call Denplan free phone 0800 401 402.
In addition we provide treatment on the NHS for Children. NHS dental care is free for children up to 18 years old.
Your need for a friendly, flexible and efficient service is our priority. Our dental receptionists are available by phone, or in person to help you with any queries relating to your care and treatment, to arrange appointments or to help with administration.
Appointments can be made either by telephone or in person. We encourage you to visit the practice regularly and book your next appointment before you leave.
If you are unable to keep an appointment please give as much notice as possible. This helps with the smooth running of the practice for the benefit of all patients.
Although we have a friendly and relaxed practice in PortTalbot, we at Talbot Road Denatl Practice understand that many people are either unable to visit us or are too nervous.
For this reason, we have a domicillary denture service, available for registered and non-registered patients. We can conduct a discreet, yet thorough denture consultation in the comfort of your own home.
Our home visit area includes Port Talbot, Porthcawl, Pyle, Kenfig, Bridgend and all areas in-between.
Modern advances in denture materials now allow dentures to be stronger and more durable and very aesthetically pleasing. A choice of dentures is available for most situations.
If this may be of value to you, or a friend or relative, please ask reception for further information.
Dreaming of a peaceful nights sleep?
Help may be at hand with a custom-made SLEEPWELL anti-snoring device.
40% of us habitually snore, which may or may not be a problem for the individual concerned, but is almost certainly a problem for that individuals sleep partner!
The constant, often very loud, noise of someone snoring can lead to a disturbed nights sleep for their partner and, if it is loud enough, even the rest of the household.
There are several lifestyle changes which can be attempted first, to alleviate the problem. These include:
1. Weight loss- fat deposition around the neck is a factor known to increase the likelihood of snoring.
2. Cut out alcohol- especially before sleep.
3. Quit smoking.
4. Avoid sleeping on your back, as this allows the tongue and lower jaw to fall back, restricting the airway.
If these measures have no effect then a, custom-made, intra-oral device prescribed by a trained dental practitioner could be the answer.
Recent studies have shown the intra-oral devices prescribed to such patients have a success rate of 75-100% in curtailing simple snoring and improving the general well-being of snorers and sleep apnoea sufferers.
Please call in or ring reception for further information about the SLEEPWELL anti-snoring device and to book an assessment.
In case of an emergency during practice hours, please contact us by phone and we will arrange an appointment for you as soon as possible. Outside opening hours, please phone the surgery and a message will advise you on where help is available.
